Pros

- good insurance coverage - no dress code - Good cafeteria, cheap and good food!

Cons

- Most of the development is done in VB6 and cache. Both the technologies are considered prehistoric else where. - There will be no such thing called life, there will be enough work to keep you busy all the time. Fear of getting negative feedback from your team lead, will motivate you to work over the weekends. - You will not be able to spend time with your family even in the holidays, without having to bother about work. - Go-live is mandatory, you end up standing 8-12 hours in the clinic. You are expected to work, even in those days, don't ask me how....you have 24 hrs in a day !! - The company doesn't prefer/recruit experienced people, they know that people with prior experience can't stand their terrible work culture. - Too much micromanagement in the company. - Work from home, is an option you can use only during the weekends/holidays. - No appreciation for your hard work, negative criticism is all you can expect from your Team Lead.

Pros

- Many of the people you will end up working with are amazing. Everyone is very smart and many are willing to help you as much as they can, provided they have enough time and space in their own responsibilities. - The campus is beautiful. If you do get a chance to walk around, there are always new and interesting things to see. - Coming straight out of college, it's a good job. You learn so many things and you're constantly challenged. You're compensated pretty well. - Benefits are excellent. I never paid a single medical bill. Prescriptions were ridiculously cheap.

Cons

- There is no work-life balance practiced or promoted. You will work hard if you choose to work at Epic. I was averaging 12 hour days for months and still wasn't getting through everything that needed to be done. They have a lot of work that needs to get done, so many people quit from the stress, leaving an even bigger burden for those that are left behind. They're hiring as fast as they can, but new hires can't compensate for people that have years of experience. Not to mention very few of those new hires will make it multiple years. You will have more work than you can handle. That's something you need to accept from the beginning. - I don't think I ever understood the system around rankings/promotions/raises. It always seemed so arbitrary. I saw people promoted to managers after working for barely a year, and people who had worked for years and years with no promotion at all. - You really don't get much feedback, and it's inconsistent at best. A lot of it will be the luck you have when you're given your direct superior, known as a Team Lead or a TL. They may be nice to you. They may not. If you're TL changes, your standing could change in an instant.

Pros

-Decent pay for right out of college -A nice office complex (that you will never get to enjoy) -A decent benefits package -A chance to take on a lot of responsibility -Retain airline miles and hotel points -Nice cafeteria (that you will rarely eat in) -If you can land a position as a developer, writer, or QA, you may have a better experience than Implementation or Technical Service staff.

Cons

-No work/life balance. In Epic's eyes you can always work more. I average 75 hours a week. My cousin who is a MD resident works less than I do. -No rhyme or reason to promotions. -Middle management does not exist. Your Team Lead will be on 4 customers and will not have time to manage you effectively -Middle managers are inexperienced. My current team lead is 22. -Internal communication of knowledge is lacking and processes for researching issues make no sense. -No real project management unless you advance to the role of IC or higher. -High turnover. People quit every day and armies of recent grads are hired to replace them -Implementations are sloppy affairs. Processes need to be retooled and more structure needs to be incorporated into the project management
