Pros

The people Epic hires are fantastic. I've worked at other places who have many people just doing the same thing they've always done because that's what they've been taught to do. At Epic, there's such drive to move the needle and continue to improve; it can be challenging but it makes you feel like you're making a difference and being part of something big.

Cons

It can be a tough job at times with more stress than a standard role. I feel the good outweighs the bad and once you get through the other end of a stressful project, it feels extremely rewarding.

Pros

- Great pay for post undergraduate students - Great food and beautiful campus - Good Benefits - You do meaningful work for hospital client IT systems

Cons

- If you are someone who would like a 9-5 job, this is NOT the place for you. This company claims that you can create your own schedule and hours, but that is because more often than not, the amount of work you are given will likely require you to work beyond normal work hours to keep up with the expectations and demands. - Normalizes poor work-balance life -> Ultimately, your time there is going to depend on your TL (a.k.a. supervisor/boss) and the project you are on. Was working 60-70 hours on some weeks and ended up working on many weekends just to keep up with project demands - very easy to burn out if you do not set boundaries clear and early. The beautiful and lavish campus will wear off after a couple of months because you will be in your office all day anyway. - This will vary from person-to-person, but the amount of information in the beginning is very overwhelming. Training will only be the beginning as you will be expected to manage the install of the Epic software into an entire hospital organization. - Training you receive for your specific application only scratches the surface of what you need to know. When you become staffed to a customer, you are thrown in the deep end and left with a big knowledge gap on how to navigate the Epic System - Toxic feedback culture - if you are struggling in your role and meeting their high expectations, you will get blasted with negative feedback and insensitivity from management - Unclear expectations - you don't really know the expectations until you talk to your TL and ask for a list of expectations for your role (based on your tenure). Really should be something that is clearly spelled out in the job description just like any company does for their job postings - Overall lack of structure and high expectations, but at the end of the day, their first priority is their customers/hospitals and you are just a cog in their machine...so as long as Epic is on top of the Healthcare IT industry, management is not going to do much about the faults in their system that make so many employees leave every year.

Pros

-Good people -Good benefits -Learn how to work hard

Cons

-Culture of maximizing = overworking implementers and shaming colleagues who aren't overworked -Pressure leads to mental health problems for many implementers due to not achieving success with unrealistic workload -Difficult to uphold boundaries you set with company culture, even with increased tenure
