Pay range discrepancy on phone screen

Pros

Phone screen was very personable and made conversation comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed the conversation.

Cons

Expel has a blog post about being proud of pay transparency, but in my phone screen the pay range is a lie. Range listed job description: "The targeted compensation range for this role is between: $85,000 USD and $122,400 USD + equity. We believe in paying transparently and equitably. Your salary will ultimately be based on factors such as your experience, skills, team equity, and market data. " Asked to fall somewhere in the middle, but was told by interviewer (team lead) that the role pays base salary of 85k a year firm. This is very deceitful job post/recruiting tactic.

Pros

The leadership is very transparent about the business and intentional about the culture they want to build. The leadership does seem to genuinely care about people and this has a big trickle down effect.

Cons

The company is going through some rapid growth which causes a lot of swirl in communications, expectations and clear definitions around ownership of business units and processes.
