Pros

So many pros! 1- There's a lot of work to do and that's a good thing in my book - it is managed however and you know what targets you need to hit, so you are not overwhelmed 2- Company expects you to manage your own priorities, family first, faith, etc, and has been flexible allowing me to make a schedule that lets me take care of my family 3- We do quarterly performance reviews which helps you get feedback and reflect on what you want to be doing more of 4- Transparent leadership - I've never worked anywhere that is so transparent and so honest - I am probably ruined for the rest of my life 5- You learn. So. Much. About the industry, how startups work, how to grow culture, everything is so transparent and they explain why they are tackling things this way. Expel even had investors come in to tell us how they function which was really fun. 6- They have also hired pros at taking care of our office, having great snacks to keep us fueled, and weekly free lunches (i know sorta a gimme these days but whatever, it's nice)

Cons

1- No 401K match (expected for an early company, but it is what it is) 2- Doesn't feel like there is going to much in the way of career progression for the team I am on - that almost didn't make this list because again - the company has been transparent about that - and wants to help you grow for what you want to do beyond Expel

My Dream Company

Pros

When I l decided that it was time to leave my former employer and seek new employment, I promised myself that regardless of how long it took, I would hold out until I found my dream company. It took quite some time, but finally I found Expel. I get to remotely most days which affords me the opportunity to see my kids and be actively involved in the family. Expel goes out of its way to retrofit all the conference rooms with Zoom webcams which makes it great for remote employees and we don't feel like second-class employees. In addition, they have a great company culture. I've never worked in a company where cross-team collaboration is not only encouraged, but is the norm and happens on a daily basis. The company also takes their employees welfare seriously. It is often repeated that our life priorities should be (1) Our faith and health (2) our family (3) the company. Having worked in many companies which expect health and family sacrifices for the good of the company, this has been refreshing. I have really enjoyed the culture of transparency as well. It has been great to approach an executive (who make themselves very available) and ask them a question and get straight answers.

Cons

Expel is a new company, so this brings a couple challenges: 1) There is a risk (very low, I think) that Expel might not make it and we'll have to look for new jobs 2) This isn't a company where you can just "punch the clock". Work isn't stressful, but everyone works hard 3) There is a 401k account provided, but there currently isn't any matching, but that will probably change in the future

Pros

I couldn't be happier working for Expel. Some of the positives include, in order of importance to me at least, clear line of sight as to where the company is headed, and why. This gives me some direction, so I know what I'm working towards and why it's important. The management team puts a lot of work into ensuring that the managers within the organization have the tools to succeed. I've learned more at this job about myself, and what makes a good leader than my last 2 jobs combined. Lot's of amenities like free lunches once a week, stocked pantry with snacks and drinks, happy hour events, office shenanigans, competitive pay and EXCELLENT health insurance make it the ideal place to work for me.

Cons

None that I can think of.

Thanks for the feedback. We care about making Expel a place where everybody wants to work and hearing that you are learning is so important to us. Transparency is core to our culture and so is continuous learning . Plus, we love some good office shenanigans - so great to hear you do too.
