Pros
- Colleagues were great and always helpful. Worked with some wicked smart people who had lost of different experiences and perspectives - Benefits were on another dimension. I'll never get those kinds of benefits again
Cons
- Massive turnover. Had 5 direct managers over the course of 18 months. 3 or 4 VPs (lost count). Couldn't seem to keep a CMO - Manager that I DID have for the majority of my time didn't know what was going on or what I was doing. My contributions were brushed under the rug or overlooked entirely. - Total stagnation. Neither myself nor most of my colleagues received promotions during my time at Expel. This apparently came from a direct block of advancement from higher leadership (there was generally the "have people do as much as they can with the pay they have before they keel over or leave" mentality). - Inclusivity is a facade. They preach tolerance and acceptance, and spotlight different employees on social platforms like LinkedIn. Then they laid those employees off less than a month later. - Long-term strategy is unclear. Product improvements were slow and not strategic. Focus is all over the place and shifted constantly - Constant rollercoaster. When we were in the green, great! When that even sort of starts to tip, the sentiment turns aggressive, layoffs happen, and everyone else is left holding the bag for the work that is still required.
