It is a giant blob of disorganization and confusion. It's impossible to get anything done.
Imagine walking into a giant Amazon warehouse full of unlabeled boxes in no specific organizational pattern. Your job? Find one box in all of this chaos. You'd clock in and do your best, maybe you'd eventually find the first box, then maybe you'd find the second: but it's inevitable you'd eventually fall short and the work would take forever. You've been set up to fail. And then there's a finger waiting to point at you as the weak link and lay offs are looming. That's what working at Expel is like. You're given impossible tasks to figure out with no documentation or structural support. You just have to figure it out.
It creates an environment where people play social/political games to keep their position because displaying actual merit is almost impossible. It's amazing anything gets done at all - it's a testament to the talent of the team.
The culture is in a tailspin - look at the comments about "stop being woke"... the company has already lost most of it's diversity and it's observably not flourishing as a result. People are just stupidly finger pointing because they clearly have no clue what's going on.
