Potential to be great, but poorly mismanaged

Pros

Lots of smart, fun people. Catered lunches 2x / week. Healthy snacks and an open, sunny office. Pay scale is great if you don't mind having zero work/life balance to enjoy it or getting openly degraded from time to time because management needs a scapegoat.

Cons

Lots of recent churn due to poor management promoting needless competition between and within departments. Work hours are 10-12 hours but without the fun culture it supposedly used to be. The inability to keep good employees leads to a constant stream of new people. Yet no good on-boarding adds even more unhappy new workers and stresses existing teams. In addition, there is no clear vision for what is going on because the new management is too busy fluffing their own feathers to corporate to communicate across the company. Egos rampant without any strong leadership.

Pros

There are some really nice, smart, fun, hard-working people there who are a pleasure to work with. If you are lucky enough to work on the right team and for the right person, it can be a decent place.

Cons

Unfortunately there are also too many of the wrong people, particularly some of the employees who have been with the company for many years and now have absolutely no ability to manage people, no interest in teaching or sharing their knowledge to help new employees learn and succeed, and zero desire to improve the culture of the company or make it a pleasant place to work. Don't count on ever having your manager or VP's support. Instead of being encouraged to work productively and collaboratively with your team, you are often pitted against your team members instead. Ask a simple question, whether you have been at the company for a year or it is just your first week on the job, and you may be made to feel stupid and judged for asking. Working 10-12 hours days is standard, but will go unappreciated. The "appreciation for work/life balance" that the company likes to project to the outside world is exposed as a farse once you are on the inside. The most inept and uncaring HR team I have ever come across. They set the tone for the company with their negativity and almost disdain for employees and their even small requests and suggestions to improve the working environment.
