Pros

I really enjoyed working with people in the offices. You can’t beat a free lunch everyday if you work at the plants (Forest park and Bellwood) only. The dress code jeans every day at the plant.

Cons

- Private equity owned - No room for advancement unless if you are a Catterton or liked by the group. - Literally no one understands one person's job function other than a select few. - Chases EBITA. Thats all that matters. - Little to no on boarding, you come off the bench your first day. - Upper management goes back on their decisions too many times because nobody wants to stick their necks out and just make a decision. - zero process towards commercialization of projects from start to finish, everyone and groups are on their own page. - Every plant is against each other and vice versa with people who sit at the Tower in OBT. - Constant finger pointing on a day to day basis. - Warehouse inventory control is non-existent. - The software systems (SAP) values are completely incorrect from packaging to raw materials to make product. - Zero work life balance. If an issue arises on the weekend or past 5pm it’s in your best interest to respond. - If you come from a structured environment, please do yourself a favor and stay

Pros

Nice corporate office for employees who get to go there. Awesome people. Free candy. Decent PTO and benefits.

Cons

This program is a joke. There’s insane and constant turnover in the company. Pay increases are so small they’re essentially non-existent. They hire in with the mindset of obtaining the “best and the brightest” then burn you out so badly people leave without exit plans in place. Management does not care about the people, have ignored multiple and consistent requests for feedback that employees are desperate to give. Employees are used to fill in roles in the company that they can’t hire other people to do because the role is so intense that nobody stays in it. Almost half the people in the program have quit in less than a year, with more to come surely. Management hasn't dealt with any of the issues this company has, they’re aware of the high turnover and burn out but refuse to do anything to solve it. Bullying from managers is allowed and ignored, young employees are exploited until they quit. If you get forced into a supervisory position in the plant, expect 60 hour work weeks with 6 days a week regularly. Will guilt trip you if you mention that you are not available on a weekend day. Would not recommend to anyone unless you already have a plan for leaving.

Pros

Benefits. Free lunch on Friday. Nice office they wasted a lot of money on prior to Covid.

Cons

I cannot stress enough just how toxic of a work environment Ferrara has. I thought maybe it was only my team, but having spoken to friends who worked in other areas of the company, it is a widespread problem. The integration of Ferrara, Nestle, and Kellogg was a disaster, and apparently everyone suffered from the incompetence at the top. No system or process in place to help anyone succeed. My favorite story: I once saw a colleague berated in a meeting for being late... only because the manager doing the yelling forgot to send the invite to him. It was incredible. Small example of the kind of gems you'll get to work with here. Leadership has new clue what's going on. If all it takes for you to be happy is a modern office and nice benefits, and don't mind a miserable place otherwise, Ferrara is for you.
