Pros

Unlimited vacation Free food (although, not always great food) Fun monthly outings Nice, friendly, and smart co-workers Everything Ruby! Great pay

Cons

Seeing what I wrote in the Pros section makes me feel less enthusiastic about working here, because that is mostly surface level and most tech companies here in the bay have this Lack of real empathy from management This has turned into a "drive fast and ignore who or what you hit on the way" sort of culture Nothing new to build from the ground up. There is more inheritance of old products to pack on top new features, but no real movement to fix or re-architect those old products C-level execs and VPs are disconnected and in the clouds about the good that's happening with business, and less about culture they claim to value

Pros

Embraces diversity - strong LGBTQ community (many left now). Hiring - Great first job (or first year) experience. Flexibility to hire your child or ex-colleagues even though they do not have the right matching skill set. This company values trusted work relationship. My co-worker was re-hired after being laid off since their parent is a manager. Grit among competition - The company is apparently the leader in human labeling and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) marketplace. Our product and engineering teams are rapidly catching up with full stack Machine Learning solutions (which are actually using IBM Watson apis under the hood, as learned from recent lunch-and-learn session).

Cons

WFH benefits - I read from recent LinkedIn posts from a co-worker about unreasonable restrictions (e.g. must be very responsive on slack if working from home - slack is used as performance indicator) about recent timeoff and telecommuting discussion. Morale issues - Persistent morale problems in the past 12+ months due to a variety of reasons ranging from sudden departure of all C-suite executives and some leaders/diversity advocates, and layoff. Current leadership team / interim CEO say how much they love the company, and say the company is on the right course - people continue to disappear. Career opportunities - Recruiters noted more than 40% employees are actively looking for jobs based on their LinkedIn profiles. Some of my co-workers have 6 managers in the past 12 months. A few new recruits are directors and thus our promotion from within opportunities are blocked.
