Pros

Friendly Co-workers friendly co workers friendly co workers

Cons

If you are a minority you can forget any title above Director. Company is ran by consultants. There is no structure. Company is not loyal to loyal employees. Overworked and underpaid. Shady business practices and shady owners. They preach about ethics but the company is ran by (nevermind). HR is a joke. Don't recognize hard workers until they are gone. Some of the Leaders of the company talk down on you as if you are beneath them. I could go on and on but I won't. I left the company I didn't get fired so no I am not disgruntled this is the truth.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to rate and review us. To be clear, we are an Equal Opportunity Employer and I am sad to read your comments. We indeed have had consultants helping us expedite important initiatives to improve the quality of living for our renters and to improve our team member experience; since the beginning of the year, we've been scaling back in this area and hiring full-time team members. We wish you the best in your career! Thanks, Sparkle

Not Worth It

Pros

Free food, Cute Office Decor

Cons

You DO NOT want to WORK for FirstKey Homes or RENT from them. The culture in the Cornelius NC office is TOXIC, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL, EXHAUSTING, and EXCLUSIVE. The “LEADERSHIP TEAM” is WEAK, INCOMPETENT and UNTRUSTWORTHY. The HR team is a joke and doesn’t offer a safe, confidential zone. A very scary combination. Working here is depressing proved to be a very ineffective use of my time. If you are looking for a temporary job that is oversold and underpaid-as opposed to a career opportunity that will promote professional growth and a supportive, equal opportunity environment, look no further! This is a great fit for you! Otherwise, Do NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. You’re money and skills are good anywhere, don’t sellout. The good guy doesn’t finish last! May God have mercy on their souls and reward them according to their works

Pros

There is no pros. Even the high pay cant make up for the bad office environment

Cons

Initially when I first started working at First Key Homes, the company only occupied one floor of the building and were a bit in disarray. However, coworkers and managers were great to work with even though space was limited. Things started to go down once the company started to grow and occupy more floors and ramp up their portfolio spending on acquiring homes for the rental market. Processes were indeed planned but never put through, and unqualified people were brought on board by others who just wanted to bring their friends and family for the high pay and great benefits. Management over at accounting and finance from property controller to acquisitions are the worst. Lacking any common knowledge from the most basic accounting skills, they were able to manipulate others to do their work and claim it as their own. They drove all the competent staff and brought their own "crew" so they can feel right at home. Most of the new staff have no clue of that they are doing. How can they claim they possess knowledge yet create erroneous entries that just mess up the financials and then turn around and berate the few competent staff of why they aren't doing more than enough to help the new staff? I'm just glad that I left the company, because sadly enough, according to a former co-worker of mine and good friend, the company laid off a good chunk of people early November and not surprisingly, she and her crew stayed while the competent and educated employees are left with no employment and worse during the holiday season. But one thing that is the sore sticking point is now they are posting new positions for accounting and finance just one month after the mass layoffs. This is disheartening, I for one feel angry for the laid off employees and disgusted that the company is getting away with this.
