Pros

Suitable place for max 1 year if you’re looking to achieve financial goals. Get to suit down all day; nice change for anyone who works retail/ hospitality. Hires any bill/ bob or sally. The work gossip 😅

Cons

A realistic (mostly unbiased) review of the company I worked at for nearly 9 years; Setting the scene for you, I started when I was 21 and was my first ever full time job. To start on a positive I will say to those contemplating working here or not that it is a suitable place to work for about a year for anyone who has financial goals in mind. Make your pennies and go! The other positive (or negative dependant on how you look at it) is that they quite literally hire just about any bill, bob, or sally. Previous to the following situation that I am about to explain, I had always expressed that “the grass isn’t greener on the other side” when it comes to low income jobs and her previously. I could never understand why people would job hop from one low income job to the next. I was of the mentality that whatever job you need to do to achieve your financial goals just do what you need to do. Last positive is that for anyone that may have worked retail or hospitality previously; you get to sit down all day. It becomes problematic if you stay beyond a year as you start to notice just how political the place is and the severe problems that arise from this. Cutting a VERY long story short; after over 8.5 years of service and one promotion later, never causing a fuss not even as such as too many Absences, I had gotten a work bully which escalated to the point where I accidentally overdosed. ( Never felt a need to touch anything prior to this escalating situation.) To this day I couldn’t tell you what her issue was, I have no clue. (Side note, a year on she her behaviour caught up with her thankfully and she got what she deserved) But regardless, she was relentless, and everyone saw it. It was bizarre. The accidental overdose came at extremely bad timing as a week later; we where to be told whether our promotions where permanent or not. Previous to this I was the highest performing of the 4 in a seconded position and it was always heavily eluded that permanent positions would be decided based upon our performance. It’s quickly became noticeable that the other three that were in a seconded position also would either regularly appear off-line or regularly make mistakes. When the overdose happened, my manager wrongly told me that I have no option but to take annual leave and this is where everything went wrong. I knew it was wise to make sure that all conversations going forward were documented so this is what I did. Cutting another long story short my manager realised how wrongly he had mismanaged the welfare process and therefore went in and changed the documentation to work his favour. (This was proven at HR panel, but HR still determined non-outcome.) additionally I provided evidence of 3 separate occasions where he then spiralled into a string of lies to try and further cover, his tracks, with 2 witnesses present and HR agreed with 2 but still determined non outcome.) To this day this manager is not respected or trusted in the slightest but still operates there somehow. (Politics as friends with the right people.) Ultimately, the two permanent positions were given to one that appeared offline (wfh) and another that regularly got things wrong. A manor factor being that they where given a weeks notice to prepare for their reinterview and me just 3 days still with chest pains still in tow. Thankfully, now that I am far rid of that place, I have managed to turn things around. It’s been nearly a year and I am still astonished with how they protected their senior managers despite the facts. But in conclusion, it just goes to show that quite literally if you die your company will replace you tomorrow! Hopefully this helps you make a well informed decision. I wanted to post a review for almost a year now, but I am still astonished by the whole experience. I wanted to make sure that I was actually depicting it without over sensationalising it.
