Pros

1- The team is great. Everyone's smart and hard working. Even more importantly, they are all really fun to work with. 2- Decisions are usually made on a data driven basis, which means it is possible to create a lot of impact as an engineer if you are smart and creative. 3- The future of the company is looking very bright.

Cons

As with most startups, there are good times and there are rough times. Job can sometimes be stressful and it can be hard to maintain a good work life balance.

Pros

Very cool Tech, great team, going after big market. The ROI is a no brainer! And Focal is 3+ years ahead of the competition.

Cons

Retailers move SO slow. So hard to get them to see how obvious the ROI is.

Awesome place to work, very challenging, fast growing

Pros

Having worked at big companies and startups, I have seen a lot. I have to say that this team is destined for great stuff. They work really hard. And they push out a ton of awesome code that does some awesome stuff. It is a startup so everyone has a big role to fill and can contribute and learn a ton.

Cons

Focal is not for everyone. If you do not want to be a part of a fast paced startup, it is definitely not for you. They are growing very fast and they do not have a lot of tolerance for people not executing which if you like to work with A players is a good thing. But if you want a more "cushy" job where it is ok to slack for a week or two, it is not the right place. The CEO wants it that way so the team is more potent and IMO that means that the equity is actually worth something vs. other startups that blow all their VC capital on fancy chairs and massages.
