Challenging, fun, and changing all the time. All around awesome.
Pros
- Amazing opportunities. I've grown more in 1 year here than I did in my last 4 years of work. If you want to work on something and you can do it -- then do it. The company is moving and changing very quickly. - Culture of excellence. Everybody is working really hard all the time and everybody here is talented and very ambitious. Everybody is super smart, creative, and cares about what they are working on. - Cool product. You get to work with a team that does everything, and makes really awesome stuff. (Hardware, software, materials, and everything else associated with a consumer product -- sales, marketing, operations, customer support). It's 3D printing. ;) - Flexible and Familial. Feels like a start up and family even though the company is growing bigger and bigger. Very flat structure. Not corporate. Adverse to bureaucracy. You can tell Formlabs really cares about employees (first days are special, birthdays are special, vacation is flexible). People go out of their way to connect, even if they're not working on the same thing. - Fun. Easy to socialize and connect with people. Formlabs makes it easy for people to get together and take a break. Micro cultures thrive. - Compensation. Competitive and quickly rewards hard work.
Cons
- The bar is very high. It's hard to perform at 100% all the time. - Work-life balance. Always hard to maintain this if you are a passionate person. This environment is a great place to practice it. - The flat structure can be confusing sometimes. You have to be able to run with it and not be afraid to step up and ask questions (or step up and just do the work).
