Pros

- Flexible vacation - Family lunches - Unlimited printing

Cons

- Leadership changes its dispositions (e.g staff reduction, budgeting, equity distribution) weekly - HR/people team is insincere and duplicitous; does not take reports of hostile behaviors seriously - Recently hired managers on several R&D teams have management styles that do not fit the company culture of collaboration, transparency and enablement

We’re disappointed that you did not feel supported when raising concerns while working here. We of course always focus on conducting fair and comprehensive investigations into all challenges and complaints raised, take this work very seriously, and have a robust and well trained People team. In cases with employee concerns, we make recommendations that we believe are fair and we try to coach team members in areas where we see a need for improvement. We do not always get it right and we certainly won’t please everyone. It’s too bad that you felt the need to leave, but hopefully you are feeling happy and supported in your new environment.

Pros

products are good fits in terms of pricing and functionality for a lot of different industries, flexibility (obviously before the Return to Office mandate), free insurance

Cons

very little diversity (white men in almost all leadership roles), catering lunch 3x a week is not a substitute for paying your employees a living raise, you will get laughed at by management if you ask about cost-of-living , all discussions around payment are met with "the company needs the money more than you do", your commission plan isn't great and you're making ~1/2 the base of most sales roles at the same level, stock buy-in options are not the same as giving employees stock, return to office 3x a week for no reason other than it make management feel better about paying rent for the office, and the "culture" is more of a cult to make you stay at your desk longer

Thanks for your feedback, especially the recognition that we are product focused. Developing great products that will fit into the widest scope of our customer needs is the foundation that our business is built on. Regarding diversity in leadership, certainly we have more work to do. However we have made some positive progress in the last few years across our senior leadership team with an increase of representation of women, to start. Continuing to hire (and develop/promote) a variety of perspectives and voices is ongoing work and something we’re committed to. Our broad compensation philosophy is to reward great performance, foster an ownership mindset across all Formlings, and build a sustainable business model oriented on delivering value to customers. We use external and internal data to ensure we are paying market compensation based on role, level and impact. We analyze this 2 times per year before our performance cycles. For our sales team, we have competitive On Target Earnings packages, and access to world class accounts like Hasbro, Marvel, Tesla, Apple, etc - in addition to an infinitely wide range of customers, applications, and use cases for our product.

Pros

There are some cool things around the office - coffee, beer, stuff like that.

Cons

If you work in sales, good luck trying to figure out what your commissions will be every month. The system they use is insane and for a reason. There were months that I sold more and made less. My manager could not even explain it to me. Wrap your head around that. There is also a TON of pressure. It comes from the top and is delivered by managers who have no business in leadership. I was never paid for the last 2 weeks that I worked. This company is too big to make those kinds of mistakes. They call themselves a startup. With offices in 3 countries and hundreds and hundreds of employees I'd say it's time to quit using that as an excuse for poor management.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your feedback regarding our company. All feedback, positive or negative, helps us build a better work environment here at Formlabs and our goal is always to invest in our people, because at the end of the day our people are our best assets and investment. I will agree, that the compensation sheets were definitely tough to navigate in the past. When I came on board, I thought the same thing. But because of employee feedback we have made them much more streamlined and easier to understand. In addition, compensation across the Sales teams have gone up on average 36% due in large part to this kind of feedback, employee feedback and benchmarking across the industry. To the reviewers' other comments, I can empathize. There have definitely been some growing pains as we have grown from a start up to an international company. But we have hired experienced senior leadership across the company in the last 12 months to help implement more processes and improve the overall experience of all our employees and we have seen improvement in many areas company wide. Sales roles by nature are high velocity. Every sales person is responsible to hit a target, but we also understand there are highs and lows to every month and quarter and try to provide coaching and support to make everyone successful. We have had an extremely high individual attainment rate in the last 12 months. Last month, overall sales rep achievement to quota was 92%, so I feel that as a company and a team we are heading in the right direction. While no company will meet all the expectations of every employee, I think Formlabs has come a long way to becoming a place that people really want to work. I think that shows by the long tenure of many of the people on my team. To the reviewer, if you would like to reach out to me directly, I would be happy to look into what happend with your final payout. That sounds strange to me, and I would like to understand what and why that happened and what was committed to you. Thank you for the feedback, this can only help us continue to make Formlabs a world class company. Tom Donahue Vice President of Sales - Americas
