Engaged employees have the potential to make a meaningful impact on the products. The relatively short product lifecycle allows engineers to see projects progress from concept to production within a couple of years. This fast-paced environment fosters skill development and domain expertise in hardware and software design more quickly than in most other workplaces. Formlabs provides reasonable compensation for its most valuable employees and decent healthcare benefits across the board. I have had good experiences taking PTO, and my high performance has often been rewarded with opportunities to travel and participate in conferences. In response to retention challenges, the company has recently increased my compensation significantly. Many younger employees appreciate the sense of community at Formlabs and often participate in social activities with colleagues outside of work. Proximity to MIT provides resourceful employees with plenty of opportunities to attend events and connect with the larger tech community.

Formlabs is the place to be for high achievers looking to work on high complexity consumer products in a fast paced environment. While, reading through many of the comments here, much of the negative feedback may be accurate, many are comparing to a traditional environment or company. Formlabs is not a typical company and not for someone looking for a remote, 25 hour a week job. Formlabs is a place to start or significantly up level a career for a smart, hard working person. The learning opportunities that will be given to hard working people who demonstrate results through their work is unparalleled and gave me an immense amount of tools to later go off and start my own company. I was able to work with some of the smartest and most talented people ever working on industry leading products with immense technical complexity. Having seen many on similar pathways, the largest difference between people who excelled here vs complained were the ones who embraced the intensity of s startup and matched passion to ship great products. If thats not your vibe, then undoubtedly Formlabs wont be the right place to grow and level up. There is plenty of flexibility afforded both day to day and even over a year and is a great place for high achievers.
