Pros

The ONLY reason to work there is for the "LOVE" of the children.

Cons

Senior management is very distant from their employees. Senior management are only concerned with themselves. There is NO Transparency, respect, or sharing of ideas. Most of the people in management have been there TOO long and have no realization what a "REAL" hospital functions like. Low salaries except for senior management, minimal benefits, NO retirement plan.

Pros

-working with the kids was rewarding

Cons

-limited leadership and management almost never visited the units to know what was going on -RC's consisted of almost exclusively new college grads with no experience -sorority/ frat like atmosphere & extremely cliquey -management rarely addressed problem employees because they're desperate to keep people -staff to patient ratio wasn't often followed because management allowed too many patients into the program at a time -frequent overtime with no time for meal or bathroom breaks -highly understaffed -training process is a joke -extremely high staff turnover -ridiculously low pay

Pros

If you are a medical, therapeutic or mental health pediatric professional and are passionate about helping children and families then you might be able to overlook the major organizational issues.

Cons

Extremely toxic culture trickles down from senior management all the way down the line. If you are a non medical professional and not senior staff, you are disposable. Senior leadership has no concern for the well-being of their staff. Gossip and hearsay create an environment in which unless you are high enough on the ladder, you have to constantly watch what you say and there is a constant sense of distrust. High turnover is not surprising based on the lack of support and overall neglect of employee wellbeing, not to mention major issues with compensation and diversity concerns. If you are not white, straight, and Catholic, you will be made to feel uncomfortable or unwanted on a regular basis. It is an extremely negative environment and there are many better-run and managed hospitals in the area. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for employment.
