Pros

Flexible work schedule Employee discount Decent benefits package Improvement in training department Economy is very poor, happy to have a job in general.

Cons

The P3 program- P3's products are not always the solution to our customers needs to say the least (fuction, ingredients, price, quantity, dosage). Promotions/Gold Card- GNC offer their 'best" most "loyal" customers 20% off during a time of the month when prices are higher? (Promo#1) Emails- If GNC wants to be an online business go for it but do not send my customers coupons that they can not use in store and complain about issues with sales. Rankings- While this may cause some healthy competiton it also has cut down on communication between stores. Managers who are producing high KPI numbers are not wanting to coach other managers or employees in fear that they will be lower in the rankings. Lack of training- Our customer expect GNC employees to know quite a lot. Lack of incentives- employees are given a pat on the back for good performance...

Pros

• Seeing personal health transformation with customers is rewarding (good industry) • Some upward growth opportunities for internal candidates • Training for external individuals seems to have improved at RSD level • Good product development and response to changes in the industry

Cons

• Dismal work-life balance if you want to be a "top performer" • No sense of comradery as you are pitted and ranked against your peers • Everything from your KPIs to the lightbulbs in each store is micromanaged to the core • Pay levels at store management position are well below average - but the essential knowledge that is required to do an effective job is far above average.. • 3rd party commissions far outweigh proprietary brand causing a constant conflict to produce KPI expectations at the associate level

Pros

Discounts aren't bad. Technically you're not allowed to take home products that have been returned by customers (and have been opened - thus unable to be restocked) but I don't believe that's a very frequently enforced rule.

Cons

Boring. No reason to upsell any of the products save for the ones that you are offered a commission on (which isn't many). Often you'll find yourself recommending products that may not be the best in their category simply because you're offered a commission for it.
