Pros

Employee Discounts on supplements Flexible work schedule

Cons

Pay is pitiful. Weekly sales goals on everything. Here is a sample: P3 - 30%: These are premium GNC products. You must sell to 3 out of every 10 customers. At times very difficult. Gold Cards: 11%. You must sell a GNC card to a minimum 1 out of every 10 customers. Difficult. Multi-vitamins: 20%. You must sell multi-vitamins to 2 out of every 10 customers. Extremely difficult. OMS (one more sale) 5%. After customer has finished purchasing, you are supposed to add OMS which is a specific product that changes every week. Extremely stressful job. Mandatory conference calls for managers twice a week. The purpose of this call is to berate, goad, insult, humiliate managers to sell more. No respect for employees. Store Managers treated as slaves.

Pros

It was fun to work in a vitamin retailer. Nice to have the ability to help people with health related goals.

Cons

Extremely Sales Driven atmosphere. Uncompetitive pricing. I was promoted internally to store manager and the pay was horrible for the work required. A large portion of the customers were people looking for a product to beat a drug screen.

Pros

Fast (i mean really fast) promotion if you have that silver tongue ready to sell sell sell. Decent commission on items that sell themselves. I was the best at this job for 5 years that i was there. I made 40,000-55,000 a year just selling, cleaning a bit,and hooking up with the mall girls.

Cons

Most likely your boss is going to be some 21 year old idiot who is on a power trip because he makes 900 every 2 weeks. No overtime here..only half time. If you do not meet the sales percentages on a consistent basis be prepared to be replaced by some other monkey that can run a register but can outsell/lie better than you can. They keep lowering Pm's (promotional money) on Gnc brand products (which is now 1% now---used to be 3-5% when i was there). You have to sell their brand or your out.
