Pros

The people and health benefits. I have worked for the company for 5 1/2 years and have always had strong partnerships with all of the people I have worked with. The new president of Old Navy seems to have a good head on his shoulders and he truly cares about the people working here. The former president was a joke. She killed our business.

Cons

Constant change of leadership and the "flattening out" of the organization has been crazy. So much change really doesn't allow the teams to run their business. Upper level management needs to listen first then act.

Pros

I'd say that the single best reason to work at the Gap is the people. In my store, we had a very professional and competent management team that was very flexible about personal issues, emergency time off or schedule changes on short notice, etc. with employees who demonstrated the same flexibility. My co-workers were a pretty fun bunch of people too; most of them were young college students with a positive attitude and great sense of humor.

Cons

GapCard is/was probably the worst aspect of working at the Gap. So much effort and energy were expended on getting that damn piece of plastic into the hands of EVERY CUSTOMER that sometimes I think that we were more committed to pushing easy, not to mention very-high-interest-rate, credit than we were to selling clothes.

Pros

I'll have a really hard time leaving Gap Inc. and ever paying full price for their clothes again! Honestly though, Gap says they support work/life balance and in my Division, they 100% mean it. I realize it's not like this in every brand, but mine doesn't just talk the talk, our leadership team actions to it.

Cons

It is a lot like a social club sometimes...promotions don't always seem fair and it really does help you to know the right people. However, knowing the right people isn't always enough, because you do actually have to know your stuff too.
