No company is perfect, but Gatsby genuinely tries hard to be its best self.

Pros

-Intelligent & kind teammates who are invested in one another. This goes for ICs and management. Diversity of the group has also improved consistently over the past year. - Truly interesting work -Continued career development + opportunities for advancement -Benefits are great (excellent medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, learning & development stipend, etc)

Cons

- We surfaced some issues last year, which seemed to stem mostly from a previous iteration of the leadership team. Leadership has now changed significantly (and for the better imo). Many of these issues are pretty common for startups at this stage from what I've seen, which no one used as an excuse. Was glad to see the org hold itself to a higher standard and make quick changes.

Pros

The company went through some changes a year ago and has come out ahead with new leaders, new product managers, new developers. There's a lot of positive energy. And why not? The Gatsby Conference had 11,000 people. We just launched Gatsby 3 and Gatsby Cloud hosting. There are hundreds of thousands of people using Gatsby. Half the new hires have been women, which is great. -Fully distributed -Good squad organization with autonomy and accountability -Diverse culture including women and under-represented minorities -Focused on building a growing cloud business -Strong executive leaders -Good benefits

Cons

The company went through a rough patch a year ago and some people are still angry about how the founders handled it. But half the company is new, so let's move past that. Some of the managers are not as experienced, but we are getting there. Remote is also not for everyone. Hopefully we can get everyone together in person later this summer.

- Distributed workforce means that there's a ton of flexibility - Super smart teammates - Open-source project with a stellar reputation - Exciting growth - Above-average compensation

Cons

- Communication needs work, sometimes teams get a little siloed and it's hard to figure out what other teams are doing / if their work impacts yours - Org is engineering-heavy, feels a little unbalanced
