Pros

Discounts, encouragement, great working environment, family orientated, room to grow.... If your full-time or management you have opportunities to bonus. These negative comments must be people who where fired or had difficulty doing there job. As long as you make your goal and keep a great environment in your store this job rocks! If you love retail, you will love working in the store.... I am management in a Johnston Murphy store it honestly is the best job I have had. I have worked for Limited Brands and other companies and they treat there employees like crap.

Cons

For the Holidays management has to work 48 hours. You have to work for your money, being management at times when your dealing with paper work, floor moves,or shipment you can be paid less then min wage...When its slow season its SLLLLOOOOOOW! Be ready to not have the best paycheck.

Pros

Very good insurance offered and the advancement possibilities can be decent depending on which market you are in or if you are relocatable, as long as you make all your metrics and sales goals. Good training materials provided.

Cons

The hours can be long as they prefer to run their stores with skeleton crews. If you're in a lower volume 2 man store, expect to work a lot of extra hours with little or no overtime pay. Very little support from Regional Management as they rarely answer or return phone calls. Upper Management tends to play favorites and uses a double standard to promote mediocre but well liked people.

Pros

Great discount. Great benefits and 401k.

Cons

I cannot tell you how many months of 9am-10pm shifts I worked (average weeks of 72 hours). The pay is okay, but when compared to your hours, you maybe barely making minimum wage. No matter how well you are doing in one area; whether it be your sales or sops (stats that evaluate your performance) your DM will always find a way to make feel like you are not good at your job. I sadly worked for the company 2.5 years and feel like it was a waste of my life.
