Pros

Hours weren't bad, good work-life balance and benefits, relaxed dress code.

Cons

Pay was not great for being in an area with such a high cost of living. My job was very poorly defined and therefore I wasn't happy there, although this could have been an isolated case.

Pros

The people are great. No egos or politics, just good people to work with. More like a big family than other companies I've worked for. Small company, so the CEO still knows the most junior people by name. Extremely reasonable hours for a money manager--the office is pretty much empty by 7 PM.

Cons

Responsibilities are not well delineated, innovation is not a priority. Focus is on expanding product line rather than enhancing existing products.

Pros

Some people are nice. Excellent benefits, like backup care for kids including tutoring and summer camp options, commuter discounts, and student loan repayment contributions.

Cons

Do not join Geode if you have any career goals and ambitions. If you don't have a 20+ year career at Fidelity, it's unlikely you could grow into an executive role at the firm. Nearly every member of the C-suite came from Fidelity... CEO, CTO, CIO, COO, and now the Head of HR. Get their names from the Geode website and take a look at their linkedin profiles... HR is pretty much silent on how employees are treated. Grown adults being treated like children. For example, requiring people to swipe their badge every morning on in-office days like some type of clock-in system or requiring senior management sign off if someone needs to work from home on an in-office day... It used to feel like a people first culture at the firm, until the newest CEO joined in January 2023 and created a culture of leading through fear and intimidation. Performance reviews are entirely subjective. If your manager does not like you or has a certain perception of you, expect negative reviews that do not reflect your actual performance.
