Pros

- Lots of push to learn and grow your skills - Plenty of fun people to work with - Interesting challenges to solve, you're never bored - Good work life balance (on the support team at least) - The unlimited PTO is real, at least on the support team - Lots of people that you can lean on for help when you need it, I've never felt silly and was never talked down to for asking an honest question.

Cons

- Your experience working here is highly dependent on your individual manager and team - Upper management seems kind of out of touch with individual contributors - Pay is well below market, raises are meh, benefits are meh - Very little career growth potential - High turnover, hiring too slow to backfill so a lot of teams seem to have more work than available team members can handle - Diversity and Inclusion efforts need to improve at the upper management level

Pros

- The onboarding process is fantastic; it is very well structured and designed in a way that most tasks can be completed without needing additional help - Everyone is very welcoming / friendly and always willing to help - I always feel part of a team as people are always willing to help each other and pair up on tasks when needed - Flexible working conditions are a big bonus; I can structure my day around personal things I need to get done - Even though I am working from home I always feel connected due to team meetings, coffee chats etc.

Cons

Everything has been positive so far :)

Pros

I had my doubts before joining GitLab, about the culture and the values for they seemed all too good to be true. I've been here for 2 months now, and I can confirm that it's all true. More reasons to work for GitLab are: - The amazing culture makes you feel welcomed and fitting in. - The values are not just there for bragging, everyone does live by them. - You get to work with some of the smartest, nicest and most helpful people you can ever meet. - The flexibility to plan your day to how it suits you best. - They don't measure hours, they measure results. - The "no ask, must tell" paid time off policy. - Everyone can contribute! It's great to feel that you are listened and have the power to make changes from day. - The level of "Transparency" is just amazing. I may say this is my favorite value of all.

Cons

Coming from a typical office job, it takes some time to get used to the all-remote and async communication model. All-remote is not for everyone! and async communication - in addition to causing some delays - can sometimes result in feeling disconnected.
