Pros

This company offers upward mobility, autonomy, and is in a recession-proof industry. I have been here for 3 years as an Account Executive and would like to give an honest review of the company. Goosehead is NOT for everyone; if you make excuses, are unethical, look for hand-outs, or blame others for your shortcomings. It will not be a great fit for you. If you are ambitious, hard-working, and want to take a small gamble on yourself to potentially make a 6 figure salary within 3 years then you should absolutely apply. Goosehead's pay structure is completely accurate if you are a top performer. That means you hit goals, secure bonus', write good business for your clients and our carrier partners. If you follow the model you will be successful. You get paid renewals. That means that all the hard work you put out in your first few years is rewarded when those policies come up for renewal. Also, just like any job you get better at it as time goes on. So as you bring in more clients, you get more renewals, which leads to more referrals which leads to more money for you. Culture - second to none, come visit an office and you will see what I mean. The product portfolio and rates we offer gives you a huge competitive advantage. We have options and our competitors do not. We provide solutions, they provide commercials with Geckos and celebrities.

Cons

Sometimes we have ex-employees write false reviews about the company because they were not successful. It does not always mean they didn't work hard or that they are bad people, however, unfortunately, they try and discourage others from joining through false allegations.

Pros

This job showed me everything wrong with corporate culture and taught me to really research and find a better job that makes WAY more money for way less slave labor, oops I mean "work".

Cons

- Base pay of $35k - $40k dependent on experience/education - Prey on fresh out of college kids who don't know any better - Have you servicing policies in states that you are NOT LICENSED IN * You should NEVER be able to make an endorsement for a policy written in a state that you are NOT licensed in. Let me say it again: YOU, not the company but YOU, MUST have a license in the state that the policy you're endorsing is written in. This is why they ideally want people with no insurance background so you aren't aware of this little tidbit AND why they use a communal login because they are aware that you would not be able to service anything outside of TX or NV (where their service branches are located and most service agent's licenses are from) and it hides the trail that shows individuals without a proper state license endorsing policies they should never be able to touch. - Department of Labor investigation for underpaying salaried employees that work OBSCENE amounts of overtime but make under the threshold of $50k. - Frat/Sorority culture so if you're into drinking, partying, and drugs this works - Asks current employees/sheeple-like managers to pump up positive reviews in order to hide the truth - Will harass you to take back to back calls, and believe me it never, ever stops - Will not make allowances for you to go home if you are ill, instead will subtly bully you into working more - Micromanages you all day, will question why you are on after-call work because ideally they expect you to take call after call with only two 15's and an hour lunch. - Caused me anxiety and depression just thinking about going in mornings, several other service agents felt the same - Does not pay you for Saturday workdays, but instead gives you small amounts of PTO - Is not transparent with you about the brutal nature of this job Please, if you are considering working here - don't. These people are corporate to a T and do not care about you. You are a number. They will fire you and e-mail it out like a badge of pride 10 minutes later to make an example of you for any other stressed service agent afraid to lose their job. They will hound you for calls, even if you need to use the restroom because most of us hide in there from these monsters. They have a DOL investigation. They do not make sure ALL of their agents are licensed in ALL of the states that they are servicing policies in. Save yourself the suffering and keep looking there are better paying jobs out there for less work and most importantly less abusive management, I know this because I have one.

Pros

None... I mean unless you think drinking in the office and alcohol related incentives are cool. Oh and you can use your “visit” time to look for another job.

Cons

Where do I begin... Upper management does not care about you. All they care about is getting your 30+ leads in training and then getting as much out of you until you cant take it and you leave (or you get fored bc you want to leave at a normal time after working 10 hours and they think you arent a team player). From the moment you start they feed you lies about your earning potential. None of it is true with the exception of maybe a few but they are “tenured” which is sad because tenured at this company is lasting longer than a year(and they definitly dont earn what is said you would earn at that point) . I never expected to work for a company where so many people want to leave or are unhappy. The employees drop like flies at a rate that is not normal. Management cant get a clue and continue doing what they are doing not fixing what the actual problem is... THEM! No one is a leader. They dont understand cracking the whip and working people to a breaking point does not render good results. Working hard is one thing. This is to a point where you have no life and the pay isnt worth it especially with all the stipulations they put on you in order to earn what you have worked for in commission and renewals. You will earn more being a waiter or a bartender than you will ever make there. The growth potential there is minimal. And the hours and weekends. Yes ...weekends they make you work just arent worth it. Its a sales job yet they give you no laptop ( unless you sell a certain amount of policies even then you are expected to come in not work from home on weekends). You will physically have to come into the office so they can micromanage you and track metrics. Which is unerving in itself because there is no trust shown at all. If you are sick you will be expected to come in after a day or else get the 3rd degree. Its a constant feeling of anxiousness because in an instant your being threatened with probation if your goal isnt met. The pressure to take prescription stimulants in order to keep up with all the ridiculous metrics and everything else is very real. People who are not prescriped amphetimines are taking them in excess and being supplied by others in the office who are prescribed the medication to improve performance as encouraged by managment. As well as pushing down negative reviews. The people who are honest and write a true review.... it tends to be negative because that is the real environment. The directors/managers will send an email asking everyone to write a positive one to counteract the real ones. Its a sad sad thing. They will continue to ask and check to see if you have. Its very uncomfortable. They say the “negative” reviews are written by “lazy” people or “people who just couldnt hack it” That is extreamly inaccurate. I knew some very hard working people who were just smart enough to know when to get out and when enough was enough. Better opportunities await elsewhere.. which is why they hire us kids straight out of college because they dont want you to know that. The real lazy ones are the people who choose to stay because they dont want to look for better opportunities or because they think they have no where else to go. Or no time to look. Yet they sit there and complain about how horrible the place is. You can read these reviews all day long. And if you chose to take the job.. then great... everything is a learning experience. But believe me, you too will quickly realize which reviews were honest and which were forced. You are hired in bulk. That should be your first clue. Because by the time you start in about a month or 2 there will only be 1 or 2 of you left if that. Think about longevitiy think about what it means to work for a company that cares about its employees, their imput and their growth at the company. This is not that company, you are very disposable to them (hence the hiring in bulk) . There are college grads every year. You are not special to them. Find your place elsewhere, where your value and degree will be useful. You dont need to be smart to work at tis company or a degree to be in sales. Know your worth and be smarter than to believe the BS they feed you when touring the lame dallas office. People run from this company like the dang building is on fire once they realize what it is and that just isnt normal. So let that be a clue. Just dont waste your time.
