Pros

There is a front and back door you can walk out of.

Cons

Everything from the moment you walk in, until you leave. Owner is the most narcissistic person I’ve ever met in my life. Projects are used like candy to lure unsuspecting children into a unmarked van with black windows. Owner will use the promise of “cool projects “ to make artists look the other way on mistreatment of coworkers and blatant mismanagement of projects. Many jr artists are hired as cheap labor. Sr artists are hired to make up the difference ( fix jr work, etc) Artists used as scapegoats. Guarantee if something goes wrong, it’s your fault. Owner (who is also fx artist, supervisor, producer, etc) often will forget notes given and will change notes on shots several times after seeing the shot again hours or days later. Blatant, public verbal tear downs of employees/ employee work. Owner’s temper/rage outbursts are unsettling, demoralizing and distracting.

Pros

The building was kinda nice.

Cons

In 2018, I had a Skype interview got an offer for a compositing job, then they offered me $10 below my rate and I countered. They then asked me to come in to the office for an in person interview. So glad I did because I met the owner, his assistant(??), and a producer. Meeting these three totally changed my first impression. The owner asked me challenging questions(fair) but keep in mind I'm a junior artist here. I know stuff, but I dont know EVERYTHING and I made that pretty clear going in. He seemed super aggressive and almost offended when I didn't know something or said I was willing to learn(at this point I was only 3 months out of school). Anyway, after the in person interview I did a bit more research and stumbled upon more reviews of the company. My gut feeling was correct! The owner, like many of these other reviews state, comes off pretty aggressive. Definately not someone welcoming. I'm not saying he should hold your hand, but just a BIT of empathy couldnt hurt. BTW I ended up turning down the offer! Looks like I dodged a bullet.
