Working in this field is tough. I've been fortunate to see other agencies that work with similar populations and they all know this to be true. When you're working with folks who have the behaviors we see (i.e. aggression, self harm, acting out), you are exposed to things that you typically don't see in other work settings. Its what you sign up for. From my experience, people are either cut out for this kind of work, or they're not. You have to have a thick skin, and be ready for what will inevitably happen. From the looks of some of these reviews, you can read it- where they've not stayed long and complain about how dangerous it is, or how the alternative strategies the company has developed isn't safe. What a crock. I've seen it work, in their toughest setting, at the residential treatment center, so I know it works. But like anything, the staff member has to give it a chance. I'd also bet the ones who complain about "using pillows" are the same folks who were constantly trying to control their clients through fear or intimidation. If you're into that sort of thing, keep away. Or if you’re here already- get lost. The rest of us don't want you on board. We’re here to help folks.
