Pros

Your co-teachers are committed, loyal, and responsible. You'll learn a lot from their patience and mastery in educating their students. If you are new to classical education, your intellectual horizons will greatly expand! Definitely a plus you'll only get at a classical school.

Cons

Pay is quite low, and there is very little room for growth here. If you're hoping to grow personally and gain skills to be a good human -- drink it in. If you need more financial security, I'd look elsewhere and supplement your human formation elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback. We believe our classical education model and mission makes us very unique and successful in providing a quality education for our students. Our compensation package has been an area that we have been working to improve. Great Hearts does provide excellent benefits (medical, dental, etc.), with employee premiums that are significantly below the national and regional averages. As of the 2024-2025 school year, we have increased the salaries of our current and new teachers. Also, our classroom sizes in many academies are lower than other district schools and we have two teachers (a Lead Teacher and Teaching Assistant) to ensure our elementary students receive the best education.

Pros

I have immensely enjoyed working at the Veritas Prep campus! Working as an Assistant Athletic Director has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I truly enjoy coming to work every day because of the culture here. The administration is not only supportive but also deeply invested in everyone's success, which makes it easy to thrive in my role. What I love most is seeing the tangible impact of our efforts on the community. Whether it's helping student-athletes achieve their goals, fostering school spirit, or organizing events that bring people together, this job allows me to contribute to something bigger than myself. I feel fortunate to be part of a team that values hard work, celebrates achievements, and genuinely cares about the well-being of everyone involved.

Cons

While the role is incredibly fulfilling and the culture is outstanding, compensation could be more competitive to reflect the hard work and dedication that goes into supporting our programs and community

Thank you for your feedback. The best schools involve listening to our faculty and staff to create the best learning environments for our students. We believe in having a dedicated administration who supports our faculty. Our compensation package has been an area that we have been working to improve. Great Hearts does provide excellent benefits (medical, dental, etc.), with employee premiums that are significantly below the national and regional averages. As of the 2024-2025 school year, we have increased the salaries of our current and new teachers. However, we will continue to make improvements to our benefits and compensation package.

Thank you for your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to address such an important issue for employees, which impacts our overall health and wellbeing. Finding balance in a work environment is a collective effort on the part of administration and the employees, and that partnership is not always aligned at times. We appreciate your input on this issue, and we have in recent years made it our goal to eliminate the non-essential burdens on teachers. We acknowledge that there are always areas of improvement for Great Hearts, including work-life balance and low compensation. As a network committed to human flourishing, we address individual concerns at each of the schools in a way that is fair and equitable to all involved. Our compensation package has been an area that we have been working to improve. Great Hearts does provide excellent benefits (medical, dental, etc.), with employee premiums that are significantly below the national and regional averages. As of the 2024-2025 school year, we have increased the salaries of our current and new teachers. We will continue to work on improvements in these areas and share your concerns with our leadership.
