Pros

It's nice to have discounts on their clothing. They provide a higher discount rate for their employees than most fashion companies in order to encourage us to purchase and wear GUESS clothing. I especially loved the jeans and the shoes, which were always right on trend and well made. I also really liked a lot of the lower and mid-level employees. When I started working there, I really loved my job and the people in my department. The recruiters there were great, too. They wooed me to the company because of my experience and education, which made me really respect that they were skilled at makig smart hiring decisions.

Cons

Compensations tend to be lower than the going rate. I was surprised how low some of my co-worker's salaries were. The senior management is awful, more psycho the higher you go up the food chain. Paul Marciano literally walks through the halls screaming at people and firing whole departments when he's in a bad mood. He also makes business decisions based on the opinions of his then eight year old daughter, who was allowed to drive golf carts all over the compound unsupervised. There is an extremely high turn-over rate due to the way the upper management treats employees in general. They make their employees feel guilty for having lives outside of GUESS. Overall, it was a really crappy job. Loved what i did, but hated every penny I put in Paul Marciano's pocket.

Pros

Looks good on a resume, nice cafe, can wear casual clothing

Cons

The people are extremely unprofessional and unwilling to support the career development of their peers. There is not a "team" feeling when working here. Everyone tries to be closest to the boss and there is a lot of drama around that. Management is moody and unprofessional. Employees are moody and unprofessional. There is no training or resources for new employees. This is one of the most disorganized companies I have ever worked for. The women in buying and design are catty and there is a lot of workplace drama. Some of the rudest people I have ever met. The systems are old and outdated, even POs are tracked in excel. There is very little use of modern technology for a corporation of this size. It is clear that there is a lack of investment in the resources and the people. Employees are not treated like adults, desks must be extremely clean, no cell phone rule, and an absurd adherence to start and end times for the day. I was late by 3 minutes once and was given a harsh warning. Vacation is very limited and it feels like you're going to get in trouble if you have an appointment to go to. There is no ability to work from home even if it were additional to work hours during the day because everything is done on desktops. The company is extremely segregated, with categories working against each other, it is no wonder that the brand is not succeeding. I could go on and on about how miserable this place is.
