Pros

- Get to talk to people about music gear and pro audio(+ if you're knowledgeable in this field. - WFH - Good start for getting into sales. Most leads are warm but some leads are actually cold calls. It all depends on the campaign. - Employee discounts

Cons

- Ever increasing expectations and goal metrics which are not reasonable to hit in this down turn in consumer spending. Commissions don't get paid out until 45 days after products ship out(given that products come in stock from backorders). Loss of commission payout happens when items are returned. - Raises don't make sense considering I sold close to $900k in sales and was given a smaller raise than I was the previous year which I made less than that in sales. Too many factors on the commission structure was designed to ensure I got paid out less. - Expectations change CONSTANTLY. Started out as an outbound gear advisor and the sales floor combined with inbound when I hit the floor. A promise was made that we would make more money but my paystubs show otherwise.

Pros

Both regulars to the store and associates alike, my experience there were favorable for these reasons alone. I was challenged about my workplace accommodation, coerced to lie about add-on sales, and harassed when educating clients on technology as I was persistently reminded that I was not paid to explain things to people. Ironically, as a pro audio sales associate, an explanation is about 99% of the job duty. Since my departure in 2022, management has turned over and it seems new management is much more appropriate, both from an operational and functional standpoint.

Cons

Unreasonable Hours, unforgiving corporate overhead, replaceability, diminishing music retail industry.

Pros

Great discount on gear. Around musical instruments all day

Cons

non traditional hours, typically noon-9pm and during Christmas noon-10:30pm. low pay, you can only make up to 3% commission, but that depends on a number of things. most the time you end up with either 1.5 or 2% commission on instruments. managers have significantly more work and are paid between 14-16 an hour. very high turnaround for staff. you have to push their instrument insurance or you risk your job
