Pros

Multiple locations, close to home. Smart co-workers who are (usually) friendly. Easy job that pays above min. wage and good way to get work experience in an office. Manager is fairly flexible and will work with your schedule.

Cons

1. Connect calling aka repeatedly bothering past clients on the phone to schedule appointments. 2. The experienced and popular tax professionals are often overworked and overwhelmed. Many of them work more than one job besides H&R. 3. I asked for part-time hours and I get them, but I'm scheduled every single day for short blocks of time rather than longer shifts and fewer days. I rarely get days off as there are only two CSP's in our office. Hard to find a work/life balance. 4. Clients always call the front desk with questions that we can't answer. H&R REALLY needs a line for clients just to ask questions instead of letting them through to individual offices.

Pros

The staff tax preparer's were very kind, informative and helpful.

Cons

The manager assigned to training was very unprofessional and blatantly disregarded trying to help new hires; she always directed information to employees that had worked for them during previous tax seasons. The manager in the office I worked in was very unprofessional, disrespectful to some of the tax preparers as well as myself and the evening receptionist (csp). She spoke to staff in a very degrading fashion (told a new tax preparer he was stupid). in front of the entire office. She would raise her voice often and ease drop and rudely yell across the room to tax preparers during sessions with clients. Also, there was not much work at this office therefore, making for very long and difficult days.
