Pennywise but pound foolish. Meaning Corporate pushes mandates down to the retail outlets and then nickels and dimes them. DMs and OMs end up bearing the cost financially, in excessive overtime (which you do not get paid for), and emotionally from the experience of being failures no matter how hard you work, adhere to policies and are involved in community outreach. Stupid but good illustration: offices cannot have color printers, understandable. Corporate creates presentations in eye catching color palettes that get printed out in grayscale, on inexpensive printers, so they become illegible. Reduces the benefit of the presentation BUT you will be held accountable for results from documents you can't read. If you complain, you'll be told to have compassion because Corporate is so overworked that folks can't maintain quality output. That requested empathy will not go both ways.
