It may be better than being unemployed.

Pros

The experience dealing with people. Learning to do taxes. Learning to problem solve. Learning to deal with upset people who owe money.

Cons

very little pay, not enough hours, only full time hours for a few weeks, no benefits, seasonal employment, no advancement opportunities.

Great seasonal work

Pros

My office is a franchise location, which means that we are run much like a small business. My franchisee has never given me any guff about staying home on teacher workdays. I can set my own hours. The work is seasonal, so I get a good long break after tax season is over. Great continuing education is offered for federal tax law.

Cons

The work is seasonal, so I only get paid for 3 months out of the year. The pay is not great. You really have to love this work to do it.

Good Training

Pros

Good Training program. I found the instruction material to be easy to understand and my instructor to be an expert in his field. After you finish the training program, the company will almost certainly hire you. If you're retired and are bored at home, this maybe a good place to work.

Cons

They pay minimum wage. The work is seasonal.
