Pros

- Decent hourly pay ($14.50/hour in Tax Season 2011) including 1.5x pay overtime - If you have a decent technical aptitude for computers and don't mind some pay for the first half of the year, this job can fill that role.

Cons

- Overtime is mandatory (50-60 hours) and can be inconvenient if one is expecting a 40 hour week. (However, you are warned of this from the get-go.) - Work hours can unexpectedly fluctuate depending upon caller demand. - If your performance isn't up to par, expect to be cut after the initial 4-6 weeks of the main tax season.

H & R Block Franchise for 4 states

Pros

This company has franchises in at least 4 states

Cons

They cheat their employees out of bonuses, require them to work overtime, but will not acknowledge them or pay them overtime. They also refuse to buy office supplies and tell you to pay for them out of your own pocket if you need them, require you to sometimes hold you paycheck so it won't bounce, and cheat clients out of money by excessively overcharging. They refuse to pay employees for training. They refuse to offer more the $7.25 min wage regardless of experience or tenure. They say they will pay a bonus, but find ways to cheat them out of that as well.
