H&R Block reviews about "management"

Poor management, low pay, no career growth.

During the main tax season, they do everything possible to prevent overtime, despite the needs of the clients. During the Preseason (Apr 16-Dec 31), they force all preseason employees to take a mandatory 8 week furlough, and then when not on the furlough, you are to be capped at <15 hours a week (Not enough to live on. The company does this so that they are not required to provide benefits to anyone that is not in the mid to senior level management (District General Managers and up). Management is made up of non Tax Professional, but general business managers. Back before the Passing of Henry Bloch, the last co-founder of the corporation, it was bought up by basically venture capitalists, who only care about their pay and not those who earn the money that they pocket. I currently am finishing week number 12 of my 8 week furlough (nice way to treat your employees)!

Can be very busy and sometimes hectic.

Management doesn't take accountability Don't respect work life balance Expect you to go in on a day off to pick up a key because the manager forgot to gift it to you. I probably would have gone if I was in town but I'm not Hiring manager was so disorganized, they set me with a location that was not near or convenient They would commit time theft and change your time sheets if you worked longer than 6 hours The on boarding person informed that the background checks would be reimbursed by the company but never explained how or who to contact with those details

Management not terribly appreciative of employees Things change on the fly, peak season is chaos with client no shows, angry over prices or because their tax preparer isn’t available when they want… you will watch grown people turn into children having tantrums because of not getting their way

Upper management being out of touch with reality
