Pros

They provide two weeks all firm time-off, but you are shamed if you take your normal PTO. They may offer $5,000 to 10,000 more salary than another place, but they will work you into the ground for that extra money. It's not worth it.

Cons

Horrible firm leadership and out of touch with reality. Avoid joining the westlake village office. They will hire and fire seniors and managers at the drop of the dime. They put no effort into hiring the right people and will fire them immediately if they don't "cut it."

Pros

There are no positives here over other firms. They either do the same thing as other firms or fall way short in comparison.

Cons

No work/life balance. They advertise unlimited PTO, but if you take it, partners will be texting/calling you on your vacations. There is always work to do. "Recharge weeks" are a joke. People are burnt out year-around. Very toxic culture created by senior leadership. WLV senior partner talks badly about everyone, including other partners. You will be thrown under the bus at any chance he gets. The firm accepts any client it can get. It's all about short-term revenues and nothing to do with what you want to do or your experience. Compensation is less than in other firms. If you are smart and hard-working, you will just be worked harder and given worse clients, but your compensation or opportunities will not increase. The technology is horrible. If you are loaned out to other offices, each one does things differently. They are way behind on technology relative to other firms.

Pros

Phil is doing roadshows so we can ask him questions. I guess that's a good thing if people had the guts to ask a question, but alas we don't want to be the next tax partner to resign for personal reasons..

Cons

FTO what a joke - I don't know anyone who takes 5 weeks of leave a year - so it's designed to save the bottom line of the Company at the expense of our pays (only for managers and above) Partners are so disconnected from staff - okay sure you all have instagram accounts and follow HCVT Careers - but that doesn't mean you know that everyone hates our clients who can't use a calculator, and expect us to drop everything to get their quickbooks in order for that M&A project, which is so urgent. Partners care only about making a quick dollar. Has anyone ever noticed that HR/Recruiting/Training/Other non-client facing depts cc the entire world on emails? Everything is escalated unnecessarily. My favorite topic - expenses. We get paid expenses a full pay period after you incur them. So you pay your AICPA membership fee on August 1 - it gets paid on August 22. You incur an expense on August 23, it gets paid on September 22. And that's if you're lucky enough that payroll actually approved the expense in star. I have no idea why we are financing the company - must be a cashflow issue.
