Pros

Hackerearth is great place to learn and you will sure get lot of exposure here. The founders are really passionate and they have a clear focus on to scale the company. Open culture and transparent organisation.

Cons

You will be happy here if you are not part of the Marketing team. The Marketing team at Hackerearth is the worst ever team, I have experienced. Because there is no team bonding and the team members will never interact with you unless if you know "Hindi". Of course its completely biased. There is an internal team division and that gap is never filled. Each has different opinions and it ends up in lot of confusions. People in the team will point out the mistakes alone, they never help you out and a lot of micromanagement works will be there. If you want to pursue your career in Marketing, please think before land up here. Please learn Hindi, if you are joining the Marketing team.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to write this review & I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience working in the marketing team. We've worked so hard to create a company where people are valued and feel empowered to succeed and grow. It's unfortunate that our efforts did not meeting your expectations. On some of the concerns raised, yes we do agree team bonding is imperative to have within/across all teams and I think a significant amount of progress has been made on that front [internal team division]. On having interactions only in Hindi , we'll take it up and fix it. On HR not conducting 1:1's , we have time and again, asked the team to share their feedback and ensure there is open dialogue , ideas shared are always taken into considered and the right forum is provided for all to share their ideas as well. We have a strong team who work relentlessly and do believe in growing together as a team. For any further concerns, please feel free to reach out to me anytime and I would be more than happy to help :)

Pros

1. Good office space 2. Enough snacks that can last till maybe Tuesday!

Cons

1. They call themselves a product company, but there 80% plus revenues comes from service sale (hackathons/hiring challenge). So this makes them just another event management company with technical expertise. 2. Absolutely no process in any department. You'll be expected take a lot of responsibilities that is not on your JD. So be ready to work for a minimum of 60 hours a week 3. I felt there was little to no transparency in delegating work or sharing information. This leads to unnecessary competition with your colleagues 4. Managers will make feel small. They have absolutely no leadership, motivational skills or basic common sense 5. The company is highly sales driven. Customer satisfaction/retention has gone for a toss.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I would like to address some of the concerns that you have highlighted. Like any other startup we have had our pivots and changes. We started with a heavy managed service model, which does not mean there is no product component. It just means that we have a product and instead of customer directly using it, we manage it for them. This is very different from a services model where there is no product. Having said that, we were cognizant of this and have slowly changed that. As of today, more than 60% of our revenue is pure product. For any startup, processes are implemented over a period of time. I agree there haven't been a lot of processes but that doesn't mean that the work is being done inefficiently. Yes, people do work here beyond what's in their JD but that's not because they are made to, but because they choose to. There might have been some mistakes with respect to mapping of accounts among account managers. Our account list grew very quickly and it took us some time to sort out everything. I regret that you were at the phase where you experienced this. I disagree that managers make you feel small or don't motivate people. On the contrary the managers work very closely with the employees, coach them and motivate them. Please understand that a hard conversation with an employee if they are not performing does not mean that the manager is belittling you. I agree we have focused more on sales and a little less on customer success but that's because there are a lot of things that a young startup like ours doesn't know in the early days. This doesn't mean that we are not willing to improve. As we speak a proper customer success function is being built in the company. We started with a heavier sales focus because we wanted to quickly grow the install base, now that we have a sizable base, more aggressive farming has begun. Having said that this does not mean that there is no focus on customer experience, we deeply care about our customers and one of the core reasons why customers like working with us because of the experience we provide to them through product and our relationship. A lot of things that you suggested are already in place. There is proper goal setting, exit interviews etc. The HR has always been empowered to work closely with employees and ensure they are productive. I value your feedback and request you to speak with me directly. I will do my best to address your concerns.

Pros

- met some amazingly hard working people - amazing office parties - fun Fridays and efforts to engage the employees

Cons

I started off at HackerEarth with a-lot of excitement as i had heard amazing stuff about them. With time I observed multiple of things that were falling apart. My team consisted of more than 20 boys and we were around 3-4 girls. The manager was biased. He would prefer training the boys over us as he believed that women came with a-lot of other commitments apart from work. At one point he completely stopped giving is leads. Our current leads were assigned to the male account managers. Only they received all the training. While confronting the manager about this, he would emotionally manipulate as because we were girls. He would always bring in the trust factor and put us into the guilt loophole. It was so bad that it was affecting us mentally. We tried voicing this to the boys in the team but all they did was laugh at us. They never cared. Anxiety and depression due to work felt normal which was extremely sad. Even our targets, girls were put in PIP for not meeting their call targets but guys easily got away with it. All they would get is a warning which honestly never mattered. Work hours: any startup follows a 9-5 work hour timing. Exactly this was communicated to us during our interviews but then we had to start our day at 8 am which was fine with us. The problem was the fact that our manager expected us to work for 12 hours. The disappointment was clearly shown on his face if we did not follow it. Note: the boys did not go through this. HR: The HR team at HackerEarth is the real reason behind as to why HRs are made fun of around the world. All they want to do is sit at their desks, laugh and gossip about everyother employee. Infact, they meet on weekends to discuss the lives of other employees no matter how much in drain their lives are. Same goes to the HR director. I remember my female colleague going to her to discuss the mental problems she was facing with the management of our manager. She claimed to be extremely understanding and sad about that fact that the employees were going through such emotional trauma but never spoke about it with the leadership team or the concerned members. The false promises will never be forgotten. The emotional trauma will never be forgotten. Please don’t even think of joining the international sales team if you are a girl.
