Pros

Experience in all areas like hair services, reception area & customer service. Commission is the most important benefit for you & greatest requirement for them. Tips can be somewhat rewarding, especially during holidays or with regular clientele. New clients every single day to build up clientele. Retail commission (decent % requirement) & discount for employees. Free classes. Mostly flexible schedules.

Cons

You Must do ALL types of hair services. Receptionist duties can be time consuming & inconvenient for clients in your chair. 50% of the time you may not make commission during down times. (Upsell, Upsell, Upsell) Most clients don't care to make appointments due to confusing booking requirements. Products sold to clients are not biodegradable, natural, & overpriced. Free classes can become repetitive & lack updated information. Little hours unless promoted to key holder or management. Sanitation work is reasonable, but inconvenient (short notice) cleaning duties on days/time off. Lack of communication between management & employees. Gossip & favoritism is inevitable.

Pros

They pay commission. As walk in salon's go they pay the highest commission, 45%, which still really isn't much.

Cons

Lack of flexibility. High expectations for stylists with little recieved in return. Promotes managers based on their sales as opposed on their ability to lead causing a breakdown in the stores. Opinions of the stylists are not valued. They claim to be a value based company, which is all talk. They also do not value the feedback from clients and what they expect. They do not adapt to the economy and then wonder why their sales and clientel continue to deminish
