      Pros

      There are going to be mixed reviews as any place will. My experience has been nothing but positive from the corporate side to the dispatch side. The jobs are what you make it. Drivers are more entrepreneurial, dispatch reflects call center environments and corporate is growing. My experience with management has been positive, the right people are getting into place where they need to be to continue a positive direction of the company. Loose office setting. Relaxed dress code. Traditional office hours. Development is there for those who strive for it Culture is blended, many are personable

      Benefits are similar to many other companies, no fault of Hallcon on pricing though

      The manager seemed like a good enough guy.

      Cons

      Our first day was 8 hours of training riding around in van in a train yard when it was -30 outside. At the end of this eight hours we were activated immeditaly. Within 2 minutes one of the guys I trained with had to pick up a train crew 4 hours away - so he would be gone another 8 hours if everything went perfect. Myself and another guy quit on the spot, that was ridiculous.

      Pros

      If you can run on very little sleep and/or can fall asleep with no problems, this may be for you. Being on call 24/7 can be appealing to some. You get to meet a lot of railroad workers, and locations. Most of the guys are friendly and helpful.

      Cons

      There is NO health, dental insurance plans: it's only the bare- minimum so you can check the box on your taxes. Repeat-NO health insurance!!!!! Most of the vans are old and are needing some work. the headlights are fogged over and not very helpful when you need them. Also, the windshield wiper blades are in dire need of replacing. But was told "they only allow changing within a time frame" I guess it's too soon, regardless of their condition, there is chatter of the company being under new company....not sure when. We are already getting new vans, not really in rotation for use yet.You can't plan anything, as you may get called out.
