Pros

Flexible times working. pay ok. See the country. Learn to drive in all conditions, even when sleepy. no supervisors or employees around. Sitting around in the vehicle is what a person does.

Cons

Supervisors are rude and untrained in dealing with staff. Crews can be pretty rude, unhelpful, sleepy or sleeping, complaining or hitting on you. Sometimes some crews are nice and helpful and friendly. Hallcon has NO health insurance, or parties or perks, except one week of pay each year, no matching 401k. Thankless job pretty much. work in dangerous situations, country roads, city traffic, yards and along RR tracks in the dark, snow and rain. Between crews trying to get you to something to get you fired or spite the RR and their complaining, angry personalities it can be a long trip sometimes.

Pros

Making life a little, easier for the railroaders and my fellow drivers.

Cons

Management locally has a mentality of get rid of em' and get another one! Good drivers frequently leave after abuse from mgmt.

Pros

Its a job, youll drive mostly friendly and kind crews that look out for you and get snacks and drinks for yours/their trips but bottom line is, its work. They work with you on things just make sure to put in as much work as you miss, plus they actually do pay time in a half for overtime and holidays

Cons

Grossly over worked (higher pay would make up for this), grossly underpaid, no actual set schedule its all 24 hour on call work. The only incentive you really have is a few 10-15 cent raises, a safety bonus every few months, doesnt really matter how much you work bc the most acknowledgement you get is when your working there for certain amounts of years. This is only my experience with both the companies. The drivers can be friendly but just like others like this, theyll throw each other under the bus to get ahead.
