Pros

The hiring team (includes amazing employees who were unfortunately laid off) did a great job about recruiting the right people. The other coaches are the only thing left that is positive.

Cons

I’ll start with the “benefits”. First of all, they tell you that you get holidays off and that you have autonomy over which ones you’ll have to work as a coach. That’s a lie. Second, they say that you have flexible time off, that’s a lie. You’re lucky if you get ANY time off, due to “coverage concerns”. Third, “MINDdays/self-care days” are assigned months in advance and they will include this as your time off so you basically have no control as to what days you get to have off. The point of these days is that you get to disconnect when you need it, but in coaching that doesn’t apply. Fourth, “self-care stipend” is mainly used by many or all to cover phone and wifi bills because despite working remotely, they do not cover for this. Oh also, you won’t have access to equity unless you stay in this hellhole for 4 years. I can’t forget to add that they recently did a lay-off and it’s pretty obvious that it affected a group of people that took a lot of time off and leaves of absence for any reason (sick, caregiving, etc) and now people worry if they’ll get fired for it too. Not to mention the toxic positivity, condescending attitude, gaslighting and abuse you will experience from management. Working with members is what we’re ultimately here for but when you talk with 25 people a day, you get compassion fatigue. Overall not worth it and will be gone soon, which is probably what they’re hoping for anyway to get away with not paying severance packages.

Pros

Headspace offered a flexible schedule: my team was PST but allowed me to work EST hours; I got every other friday off and most of the time I didn't work more than 15 hours a week despite getting paid full-time. CEO had monthly team-wide meetings to discuss what was going on for Headspace, discussions around improvements, pay increases, etc. Supervisor really seemed to be interested in making my monthly + annual goals not just career based, but also personal goals as well as wanted to serve as an accountability partner, which I really liked but may not be for everyone.

Cons

The marketing team was hugely disorganized during my time at Headspace. We utilized Monday.com and I was not briefed on who I should be reporting to, who needed to cross-check work, and generally the processes that occur to get work over the finish line. Due to this, I was often frustrated as a new member of the team because it wasn't clear to me the correct order of operations. It also appeared to me that there wasn't too much communication between team leads as I often didn't have as much work as a similar member of my team.
