An environment run on fear

Pros

Extravagant employee holiday parties and you are surrounded by beautiful products..

Cons

It's a work environment run on fear. Management is worried about making errors, creating an environment where people walk on pins and needles in fear of losing their jobs. This is particularly true with the selling of handbags and all the rules that apply. It is a stressful day to day transaction for the salespeople and clients. This takes away from the luxury experience, creating doubt among seasoned clients and those who wish to become good clients of the house. Favoritism exists among managers and salespeople and among salespeople and clients. Stressful, damaging, negative, immoral enviornment.

Pros

Can’t say. Difficult work environment.

Cons

The accounting director is a racist individual who only has success working with Asians. Asians constitute more than half of the team. If you are not Asian, she will be tough on you until you finally quit.

Useless HR team

Pros

None, HR team is manipulative and condescending. Pretends to care, but all for show. This is the worst HR department I’ve seen in my entire career.

Cons

The company is forcing employees from the corporate office to return to work full time starting July 6th without ANY exceptions. Almost every other corporate office in New York has implemented new rules and flexibility to allow employees to work from home. If the work can be done from home, why force employees to commute everyday. At least allow some flexibility. The company has setup hotlines where you can express your concerns and also does surveys time to time. But it’s all for show because they don’t take into account anyone’s concerns. Hermes is stuck in the 18th century. They need to change their mindset and understand that the needs have changed. People don’t need to spend hours on commute to sit in an office and work. IF your job can be done at home, then what’s the harm is allowing some flexibility?
