Good employer for work-life balance. Bad for career advancement (not for the young and motivated)

Pros

work-life balance, flexible schedules, good on-site cafeteria (employee discount). I am speaking as someone who worked in the business side of the organization--not the clinical side. The pay is low to minimal for comparable positions at for-profit organizations, but what it lacks in salary it makes up for in flexibility. Managers rarely question or deny requests for time off. Good PTO accrual rate (8.6 hrs/pay period). The cafeteria and cafes on-site are excellent. Employees also get a 30% discount.

Hoag perpetuates inept managers

Pros

Good benefits and generous paid time off. They have a great medical and dental insurance policy.

Cons

It's almost impossible to move to different departments. Hoag is like the government. They keep inept clueless managers and clerical staff get mistreated and no one does nothing about it.
