Pros

Very resourceful company. Spared no expense to ensure myself and colleagues had all the tools needed to run a large scale commercial job site. This company sets the industry standard in many areas of construction.

Cons

Over staffed the jobs to ensure quality assurance. This works fine until the whole team isn't on same page or subs play team members against one another. Few less superintendents on site would have solved a lot of problems.

Pros

There are some very good people at Hoar. Unfortunately, none of them are middle or upper managers.

Cons

Staffing is a constraint. Over a dozen people work with a single administrative assistant. This pushes more work back onto understaffed and overloaded employees. Forget about seeing your family and "turning your brain off" at night when you leave. Email harassment from upper management is 24/7. This is not a client focused or relationship driven organization. The values mentioned to you during recruiting are a joke. Current employees are angered when they are even mentioned.

Pros

Don't have to work hard to be viewed as great because everyone great is smart enough to do their research and know they would be miserable here.

Cons

Management runs the company by making everyone fear for their jobs. The 7am to 5pm enforced schedule with a 7-11am friday is nice in theory except you won't last long if you don't stay until 5 on Fridays. Your boss most likely hates their job and will take it out on you in fear of speaking with their boss. If you don't have a family member that is a VP then you will not succeed here. If you are innovative, independent, and like to take control... Forget about it because you will be micromanaged to the point that other people will make the decisions for you.
