Pros

Flexible Moderately good training for an agency - have had NO training in other HHC agencies

Cons

Very low pay - start was 9.00 - year later up to 10.00/hr [when clients are paying $25-45/hr] No care for workers - if you had a problem, it was basically "they are old and sick, get over it" Called with questions on your day off A LOT Owners of Franchise live in mansion Most clients treat you like you are the maid they never had Many times we were hired by clients because we are cheaper than maid service ($20/hour for a maid) Many clients say insulting things - endure much abuse - most are on major meds so... makes them insane They placed me with dementia/Alzheimers patients non-stop for 4 years with no psychological support and low pay Client coordinators pretended to be compassionate until had a problem - then pass you off to others Payroll woman was a colossal witch - paychecks obtuse and hard to follow No benefits Employee made to feel like a criminal in any difficulty

Pros

There was never a shortage of hours. I always finished the week having worked more hours than I had planned on working. The pay was good for the amount of work required.

Cons

I was often called at the last minute to do assignments. I got the feeling that I wasn't seen as an actual human being by the company or the schedulers: I was just a machine to be sent to various last-minute assignments. Once I was scheduled for a night shift, and at the last minute they asked me to do a morning shift the next day. I was only able to get about four hours of sleep in between shifts. And caring for seniors is not the kind of job where you can get away with coming to work tired and foggy-minded. I had to deal with clients who, once I got there, expected more for their money. So they would talk me into doing things that were not part of the plan they paid for with the company.
