Pros

Sick pay Money off recreational activities

Cons

I've had a lot of time to reflect on my time working for homeserve and I don't mind saying I was one of the many that were made redundant and i'm writing this some 2 months after being made redundant with a clear head: - Lack of understanding of what goes on day-to-day from senior management - This causes issues in understanding time to deliver work - Also means the targets that get set are ludicrous and unattainable (i.e. they expected to go from 10,000 boiler sales to 20,000 in just year) - A lot of smoke and mirrors for a company that preaches an "open" culture Unfortunately I feel this is a company has become very "Americanised". They talk the talk, but they are ruthless behind closed doors

You’ve lost your job so of course I understand why you wouldn’t be happy although I don't agree with your comments and assertions about HomeServe. I’m just guessing but based on what you said I think you worked for a business that we acquired. The reality is when you put two businesses together there are overlaps of People and to have a sustainable business (your words) then you need to either redeploy these People or there will be redundancies. We always try to redeploy first. We have about three thousand People in our UK business and have had that many for about five years now. We need our People to be in the right places for our Customers and this sometimes leads to us having to make tough choices. Last point, I think if anyone reading your review has questions or concerns on sustainability then they should check out the details in the latest annual business figures released a couple of weeks ago. I wish you well in your future endeavours. Greg

Pros

Good benefits and the office is being refurbished to a very high standard so we have somewhere nice to work

Cons

The OMs are a mixed bunch and the TMs are terrible. I don't get any development and TM focuses on the negative. Would it kill you to give some praise?

Thanks for your review. I'm taking a punt here that you are in Preston because you've referenced the refurbishment that our offices are currently having. If I'm wrong, please let me know however, if you are then please take the time to come and see me about the concerns you have expressed. I agree with you that positive feedback is a really important part of how we work together; equally, constructive feedback about how we can do things better is extremely valuable and, delivered in the right way, can be really beneficial. Also personal and career development should absolutely be part of any conversations about about how we are performing and how we want to shape our futures in the business. Let's talk and see where that gets us.

Pros

Great career progression if you're willing to put time and effort in. Great salary, particularly for a call centre. Opportunities to help Customers, even those that aren't necessarily covered. Excellent benefits, including a monthly 'bonus' for front line staff. Set career progression and wages. Feel like we're kept pretty in the loop about things within the company. On site canteen. Free on site parking. Lots of charity work. Dominos pizza days :)

Cons

A little bit of uncertainty amongst staff recently following some redundancies. Unfortunately there's plenty of staff who don't share the company's values when it comes to speaking with our Customers. If People followed processes and kept Customers up to date as they promised, the complaints would be reduced significantly. It's frustrating for the ones who always do their best. Dominos pizza days when you're trying to diet :)
