Pros

The people who you work with are what make you stay. They keep you happy and smiling. Finally got hours to suit my family life and that's the main reason why I currently stay. The discount offers we get are reasonable which I have used many a time over the years

Cons

There is no chance of promotion in the contact centre. They only upskill you if its a business need, otherwise there are no opportunities within, The management stays the same and there is always an excuse for you not to progress ie we have no roles coming up If you are part time, the opportunity available to you move from 0 to minus infinity. Part timers are not considered in an form of way and when jobs do come up internally, its always full time, with no mention of flexibility. You may get the chance to progress in other departments but in the contact centre its a no. They are currently looking at working from home at a 40/60 ratio, however, no consideration has been give to part timers again You have less than handful of awesome managers in the contact centre, the rest are not people friendly, expect special treatment for themselves but will come down hard on staff members for the smallest thing. Management hasn't been changed in years and this is why opportunities are not created. Booking annual leave can be very tedious and they often block out dates without any warning. also be careful if you need time of if you have children or someone you care for they can be extremely difficult. Its very much a face fits environment and promotions are not given on people abilities but on who they know. The same people always get recognition. You could do all the work to get a promotion with pay but they will make every excuse not to pay it or give it to you. The business is very diverse in the lower ranks, but as you move up, that decreases dramatically. For example in the contact centre, there are no black managers of any level in that department, Asian managers yes but senior and above, definitely not

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review - it's pleasing to see your positive comments about the People you work with at HomeServe. It's also great to read that we have been able to accommodate your flexible working request that will help you balance work with family life. Whilst I appreciate it if you work part time, it can be frustrating when looking for new opportunities that are full time. There have been part time positions available and If there is a particular role that you wish to apply for, I would always encourage anyone to ask the question and see whether a more flexible working pattern could be considered. We are still working through the finer details for our hybrid approach to working and the intention is for everyone to benefit from both home and office working in the future irrespective of full or part time working. I'm concerned to read your comments about some of the Management Team not being 'people friendly' - it's something I have not witnessed first-hand during my time here but I'd expect being' people friendly' to be second nature for every member of the team. We have really active and focused employee networks who work hard to make changes for the better for all our people - across genders and cultures. I would really suggest you join, they are always keen to welcome new members, experiences and ideas. You can find all the information on Yammer. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the above along with the other points you've raised in more detail - I'm very keen to hear more from you so you can talk through your concerns in more detail if you wish.
