Pros

The benefits package is very good with the exception of healthcare costs (roughly 2x that of other semiconductor manufacturers for the EXACT SAME COVERAGES). Intel actively promotes a clean and safe working environment and does a good policing. Plenty of growth opportunities FOR DAYSHIFT WORKERS.

Cons

There is no 24 hour on-site Implant engineering coverage for New Mexico nightshift (you have to call a sleeping engineer at home for guidance), very inefficient. Some other areas do have 24/7 coverage, however. There is absolutely no growth opportunities for Implant nightshift workers unless you are "in" with the senior management, at which point they will do anything they can to accomodate your needs (typical "good ol' boy network). They will constantly remain understaffed so that they can refuse your request for an internal transfer. They will hire people off the street for dayshift while constantly denying your request to transfer from nights to days by telling you that they're understaffed on nights and your too experienced to be allowed to go.

Pros

Top semiconductor company. a lot of smart people and nice human beings.. Good investment in research and development. some flexibility with life-work balance (even though in some teams it's a joke) I also loved the volunteering work we used to do as teams. Intel does a lot of community work and helps the community unfortunate people. they really take that seriously (didn't see that in other companies I worked for)

Cons

a lot of back stabbing from colleagues. Can't blame them: they are under constant pressure to be among the best or face termination. A lot of politics!!! a lot of retaliation from managers. Managers sometimes are simply not born to be managers. there should be another option to promote people (other than making them managers). I had a terrible manager at Intel. When they don't know how to direct you, they simply blame you for all their weaknesses.
