Leadership and vision are poor

Pros

Working alongside smart and interesting people. You will learn how to train yourself.

Cons

The leadership team has no clue what it takes to run an organization. They would rather have puppets who do as they tell them rather someone who is capable of thinking and making decisions on their own. The COO is a tyrant trying to make a name for himself. His outlook and strategy is old and based on old business practices. Constant reorganizations and layoffs cause low employee morale. I should have left much earlier.

Break into the industry and learn fast

Pros

One of the few places you can break into the Cybersecurity industry. Entry levels positions are always open. If you can learn fast you will move up fast. Promotion is common as the company appears to be growing every month. If you show you can learn their processes and the technology they will assign a mentor. They have beach days, barbecue days, a volleyball team, various holiday parties, and if the weather is real bad they bring in pizza. The people who work there are pretty nice for the most part. A very broad mix of young and old people as well men and women. The SOC is a block away from RTD station and covered parking makes going to work a little easier.

Cons

Entry level work is not always glamorous. If you want to get a promotion you have to go to their optional training and shadow sessions. Those sessions are not always set at times that are convenient. Lots of shift work. Work can be super intense and then boring. Once you learn how to do something you have to that same thing with no mistakes for a long time before they want you move to the next thing. You never know when the opportunity/promotion will come. No one is talking to you about a new position and then suddenly multiple positions open up and they interview everyone in like three days. They fill the new positions fast. You have to be ready at all times. You have to go to EVERY “optional” training and shadowing session and on top of that you should be doing self study if you want to ace their interviews. Bring your lunch or dinner. They have free coffee and and vending machines but no place to eat in walking distance. If you don’t have time to make a meal and bring it to work expect to have to eat Cheetos for lunch or dinner.

Pros

Family first organization with a leadership team that believes and lives the company values. Will push you to drive professional growth and will allow you the space to be the self starter the organization needs. Hard work and dedication continues to pay off allowing for financial and professional growth for all apart of the team.

Cons

Growing pains can cause change management frustrations. Any organization that has success and expansion opportunity will walks into hurdles, both expected and unexpected. This organization has had its fair share of hurdles. With those challenges came growth, education, and the ability to influence change.
