Great place to work.

Pros

Coworkers, management and students are all awesome. Great, fun working environment. Very flexible. One of the better places I've worked. Those with complaints have obviously had a different experience than I have, but maybe have not worked for corporate America. If you work hard, maintain a good attitude and show your enthusiasm, there is opportunity to move up.

Cons

Enough money to pay the bills, but not much opportunity to make more money as a teacher. Can get hectic with students coming and going every week. Still, pays better than many other jobs, teaching jobs included.

Great people, disorganized corporate culture

Pros

Almost everyone at the company has lived, worked, studied, or travelled abroad, so colleagues are pretty interesting. Some divisions, like Work Travel, allow employees to travel to really interesting destinations for hiring fairs. If you are motivated and driven you can pick up extra projects and move up within the company; if you aren't, you can safely coast and have a light work schedule.

Cons

Pay isn't great; turnover is high; upper management changes priorities frequently; layoffs happen every year; industry isn't growing; too many meetings without resolutions or ownership

Great People, But Don't Stay Too Long

Pros

Intrax has lots of great people working at the schools (SF, SD, Chicago) and at HQ in San Francisco. (FYI: The schools are known as "Centers".) Most employees have lived abroad or are from overseas, so you get to meet people from all over the world and most of these people are cool and easy to work with. Intrax is committed to education and cultural exchange - and these are things you can feel good about promoting and working on.

Cons

Advancement is possible, but it is not about skills; it is about how well you fit in with the corporate culture. That culture is one that values humility, flexibility, and an ability to get things done with limited resources. Intrax's culture does not value creativity, passion, or asking difficult questions. The pay tends to be low for admin positions, but is fairly competitive for teachers. Turnover is high. In the past couple years there have been lots of layoffs, but I suspect that phase is over and the company will stay at the current size for the foreseeable future.
