Pros

Pretty good merchandise Great brand partnerships (Barbour, Alden, Red Wing, New Balance, Baracuta, Timex) Mickey is THE MAN! Love that guy! We had fun at work (although I hear there's a new regime that has outlawed fun in NYC stores)

Cons

I have one complaint: I worked in NYC so people from JCrew Corporate came in to our store all the time (weekly visuals walk throughs for starters). Invariably they were arrogant and treated us with total disdain and contempt. They didn't seem to know or care about how the floor actually functioned because they never came in on a crazy Saturday afternoon. We actually had one guy from 770 (Corp office) that would come into our store, lock himself in the manager's office for several hours and watch the security monitors looking for employee violations (didn't fold enough, didn't replenish enough, forgot to clean out a fitting room, etc). Functionally speaking there are so many instances of abject failure that I can not list them in the space provided here. From merchandising to design, quality assurance, planning, allocation and distribution I've got examples of incompetence by them all. And yet they all think they are God's gift to retail in whatever capacity they serve. In general their attitude is deplorable towards floor associates.

Pros

Being a college student, I can't say I would rather work anywhere else. Retail can be labeled "boring", but it's only a part-time job, and the pay is above average. The people I work with are great, with a good mix of college graduates, current college students, and some mid 40's women working at my current location. Willing to work with schedules; very flexible. Shifts range from 4 to 6 hours for associates usually.

Cons

No real cons, considering its a well paying part-time job.

Pros

-Great clothes - store design -crewcuts - -creativity

Cons

-The intercom in the office is annoying - too many people in command who don't do the work -To many people with horrible attitudes - MICRO Managing is a big problem - People who work long hours, creative work, and that have passion are overlooked by people with big egos and people who can only talk and not produce great work - too many office politics ruin great creative people with talent - higher management is just bad in general - the company has gotten very reductive with design and less creative perspectives for new ideas -style guide need more fresh looks - Manhattan NY management is awful... the flagship store is the worst store
